Going to U.Va football’s annual “Meet the Team” day has become something of a tradition for Will and me. We went to the 2013 event this afternoon, and I thought it would be a good topic for a blog post. But, once I started writing, I had a sneaking suspicion that I had posted on it before. I did a quick search and, sure enough, found this post from 2011.
Sorry for the re-run, but here are a few highlights from today’s outing:
A word to the wise: if you are going to let your kid loose in a sea of U.Va autograph seekers, it’s much easier to keep track of him if he is not wearing orange and blue – because almost everyone else is also wearing orange and blue. I promise, though, Will is in the red box.
The next photo is actually from last year’s event, but I just found it on a U.Va sports website (note the spiffy frame), and it’s a better photo than I’m able to take with my phone:
I’m not sure why I let Will wear Carolina blue that day, although it did make it easier to keep tabs on him.
And, also from 2012, here’s one of Will with Coach London:
He’s a good guy, who must have been exhausted after a long afternoon of smiling and pressing the flesh.
Back to today’s outing. I think we’ve taken a picture with Cav Man every year:
Right before I took this photo, Will was hugging the horse around the neck. I don’t think that’s why Cav Man drew his sword, though.
Will was happy with his haul. Select autographs on his football and his cap, and most of the team’s autographs on his poster (including one who wrote “To Will” and thereby attained “favorite player” status). All in all, a fun afternoon!
